Massey Hall & Latent Lounge Present
May 24th at Massey Hall will bring together three seminal Canadian bands in a special evening consisting of individual and collaborative performances.
Cowboy Junkies – Formed in Toronto in 1985 the band recorded its blues-inspired debut album Whites Off Earth Now!! and released it on their own Latent label. Touring the southern US in support of the album, provided the inspiration for the band’s second effort, The Trinity Session. Their seminal album is a melancholic mixture of blues, country, folk, and rock featuring a collection of originals, covers and traditional songs. More than 20 years later, with fifteen studio albums and many live and compilations albums to their credit, they return to Toronto for a very special performance at Massey Hall alongside their friends
Skydiggers – Chemistry, passion, energy and evolution are a few words that come to mind when Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson talk about twenty-five years together in Skydiggers. Skydiggers are not only riding all of those years of momentum but continuing to evolve as well. They attribute their ongoing growth and successes to chemistry, not only of the band but also the experiences of sharing the stage with so many other great Canadian musicians.
LeE HARVeY OsMOND – The Hamilton, Ontario man known as Tom Wilson has forged an alter-ego from a pop-culture mash-up of JFK’s killer and the famed family of singing Mormons. That’s in addition to his identification since the ‘90s as a member of now-defunct Canadian rock band Junkhouse, and the very-much-alive Americana entity of Blackie & the Rodeo Kings. Wilson has used the Osmond moniker for three solo albums, including his 2015 Latent Recordings release Beautiful Scars, produced by the Cowboy Junkies’ Michael Timmins.
